Allo à l'huile counts on Sigfox to reduce its environmental footprint
In partnership with Sigfox, Allo à l'huile will optimize the collection of used edible oils from more than 25,000 restaurants in France.
Paris, France – October 6, 2020 – Sigfox, the global 0G network and cloud provider for industrial data, today announced its partnership with Allo à l'huile - a specialist in the collection of Used Cooking Oils (UCOs) - to help the company optimize its collections, recover UCOs and achieve its CO2 emission reduction targets.
With more than 30 years of experience in UCO collection, Allo à l'huile offers a tailor-made service to the catering and food industries throughout France. The company ensures the regular collection and processing of UCOs for more than 25,000 French restaurants. After collection, Allo à l'huile recycles the oils by transforming them into a biofuel used in B7 biodiesel. The latter is available at service stations and reduces greenhouse gas emissions by 87%.
By relying on Sigfox's 0G network, Allo à l'huile is going even further and is now tackling its own carbon footprint, becoming the first company in the UCO collection business to address the environmental impact of its logistics activities.
Allo à l'huile needed a technology partner to access information on its customers' volumes. The aim was, initially, to optimize the collection of UCOs and to reduce the kilometers travelled, leading to lower CO2 emissions.
"We needed to know the capacity of our customers' tanks so that we can anticipate their needs and optimize collections, enabling our team to intervene at the right time. In the past, we used to intervene blind, and very often before the customer had reached the optimal capacity level. Working with Sigfox and installing IoT solutions in UCO tanks has enabled us to meet this essential need while improving our customer service, with 20% fewer trips and reduced costs for customers with our connected global solution," explains Wilfried Martin, President of Allo à l'huile.
Thanks to Sigfox's IoT services and its 0G network, Allo à l'huile has already equipped more than 300 restaurants, including several large restaurant chains, but also smaller organizations sometimes located in areas where only 0G is able to transmit data. In addition, the tracking system provided by Sigfox is constantly evolving in order to comply with a number of standards (ISO, HACCP or ISCC - International Sustainability & Carbon Certification).
"We are proud to be able to work with companies such as Allo à l'huile that contribute, on a daily basis, to reducing environmental impact. This is also a very important objective for Sigfox and our IoT solutions, as well as our 0G network, which enables us to deliver towards this goal every day," adds Patrick Cason, Managing Director of Sigfox France.
"With Sigfox's support, we aim to equip most, if not all, of our customers to further improve our collections and recycle more used edible oils that will no longer pollute the water treatment network. This will be done without increasing kilometers travelled and will thus make a significant contribution to reducing CO2 emissions in France," enthuses Wilfried Martin.
In addition, Allo à l'huile and Sigfox are thinking about the next step together, which could be the development of a solution for UCO storage drums, in addition to tanks. These smaller, mobile and less valuable containers can be supported only through a connectivity solution like Sigfox's using a 0G network.
